HEART OF TROY
OMNI has been granted the wonderful opportunity to interview the ultra talented rising artist "Heart of Troy". The 80's pop inspired artist has a lot to offer and a lot to tell her fans and ours as well!
WELCOME TO THE 2080's BABY
Could you tell us a little about your early years and how you were introduced to creative outlets?
We understand that you have a collaborative band with Planes called “Childlike Sound”. When was Childlike conceived and What is the energy like between y’all when both of you are in the studio together? In addition, do you have other bands that you participate in?
Me and Planes went to art school together!!! She is one of my best friends, and its crazy because I never ever ever ever thought we'd be producing and writing original music together ever. I was a Vocal, but she was a Theatre Discipline (yeah the girl is gifted in everything she does, like sheesh) Before the birth of her first EP, she sent me the "Swim in the Dark" beat and to let her know what I thought of it. I first heard it, and I was like "wooooooow, can I write to this?" She gave me the go, and she loved it! We both cried at how great it turned out, and it was like we gave birth to our first music baby! We discovered that our ears and sounds were very similar. We are influenced by very similar artists and different at the same time. She has a huge 70s/80s influence in her drum patterns and synth textures. I use a good amount of synthesizers, and I love to add a good Sub Bass to a good melody. We just fit, and the songwriting comes naturally.
We actually have never been in the studio together. We have always collaborated long distance. At first, she was in Vegas and now she's in England. We're like 6 hours apart, but it works out because it's like we both have something to wake up to musically. She'll drop something in my email, and I'll write to it and send it back. She'll give me feedback, and I'll adjust and mix some. We go back and forth like this every night. Our self-titled EP "CHILDLIKE", we've been eating and breathing. We will be releasing "Dancing with the Devil" as a single soon.
Super excited to release and share. I have released a few songs of my own, but this will be my first time releasing a complete project of songs.
Aside from Childlike, I am working on my own project, as Heart of Troy. Under that same project will feature Pierre Pastel (Atlanta, GA). I also have a collaboration with The Prblms (birmingham, al), which will come very soon.
If you had to create a genre describing your creative style using only one or two words, what would it be called?
